Anytime in my life that I've struggled with myself emotionally, one of the reasons behind it is that I have lacked a vision and goal. They were there, but I wasn't actively paying attention to them and seeking them out. Then all of a sudden, they weren't there at all. Goals are important in every part of your life whether it be marriage goals, work related or personal development. Yogi Berra once said, "If you don't know where you are going, you'll end up someplace else." We all know about SMART goal setting; specific, measurable, achievable, results-focused and time-bound. That's great and all, but how do you start actually setting them. First you must know yourself. If you are having trouble getting started, here are some questions to help you really nail down your true aspirations and visions. It's more than just sitting down and randomly setting goals. These questions came from
Your Life Coach In A Book 90 Day Planner to Achieve Your Goals by Inner Guide and they're fabulous! Grab your favorite oil for mood (mine is
Citrus Bliss) and put some on the back of your neck or in your diffuser. Take some deep tummy breaths and calm your mind. Then answer the questions below.
1. What is most important to you in life?
2. What are your top 3 strengths?
3. What type of activity doesn't feel like work to you?
4. What lights you up? List your passions.
5. If money or education were not an issue, what would you love to do for a living?
6. What do others most admire in you?
7. What weaknesses would you like to work on?
8. What is your definition of success? What does a successful life look like?
9. What would you like your legacy to be?
Those 9 questions helped me get really clear on myself and my true core wants and needs. It's hard to set goals or do anything without knowing the answers to these. Once you answer these, then you can start setting your goals! You must match your goals to your core believes, feelings, wants and needs or you're just spinning your wheels.
If they don't match, you'll never believe it yourself. You can't manifest something you don't believe in.
