I love yoga! I love the challenge, balance and mental attributes of yoga. There are times though, that I have trouble focusing and calming my brain. This is something I've been working on daily for quite some time. I'm getting better at it. I use doTerra essential oils every day to help with this. I diffuse them in the house based on our families moods and needs at the time. At my yoga class, the owner is always diffusing doTerra oils as well. A couple weeks ago though, I think my instructor could tell I was having a little harder time focusing and relaxing. We were in Shavasana (Corpse Pose) and my eyes were closed, but I was definitely not at ease. All of a sudden, I felt a small wave of air slowly and lightly slide by in front of my face and then a gentle massage of my temples and then she cradled my head, placed her fingers at my occipitals, gently lifted and pulled back (cranial sacral axial joint release). The smell of the oil immediately calmed my busy brain. I relaxed completely and was able to meditate and release my tensions like I needed to. The oils are so great for Yoga! This is just one example of how simply they can improve your practice. Using oils in the yoga practice will reduce stress for you and your students and will help expedite the relaxation process. Both of those of are powerful in giving support to immune function. You can't get much better than that!
If your a studio owner and you incorporate massages or any spa treatments, then you'll also want to know the
Aroma Touch Technique. I will be writing more about it tomorrow.
"Adding essential oils to the yoga practice accelerates or enhances the students ability to overcome the mind through the body. Historically, oils have been used to aid in meditation that brings us to the present moment. By combining the oils and yoga we bring the two disciples together to heighten the impact for the student."
The Essential Yoga Program by Deidra Schaub, Jane Bloom, Stephanie Smith and Marty Harger
