One of my mentors reminded me about visualization when I was in an area of my worst mental state this summer. I was being brave and trying to hold it together. We'd attended A Night of Clarity (amazing event for future reference) where we got to hear some amazing Austrian economists speak. Afterward, we were having a heart to heart about where I was at. He knew I was suffering and he asked me if I did visualization exercises. I had years ago during some of my personal growth time in my mid 20's, but confessed that once I had the children and got sick, that all of it had fallen to the wayside. He looked at me and said, "You have to start back!" Of course, I knew he was right. Later on, I really was shocked that I had ever stopped doing it. I was pretty angry with myself actually. I tried to pick it back up, but was still struggling with the MRSA. I knew I needed some guidance so, I did what any good bookworm does and got on Amazon and there I found this great little workbook. It's The Creative Visualization Workbook by Shakti Gawain. I'm sure there are others out there. The point is to get something if you need the help getting going with it. I use it every night. It's keeping my thoughts in order, keeping the negative out, affirming what I know to be true and letting me go to sleep with a clear mind. I then wake up with focus, intention and direction.
If you've never done visualization before, it's an amazing tool! It may seem awkward at first, but kick that feeling aside. It takes practice and is also an ongoing process. Be clear about your intentions and goals and visualize them as happening at this moment or that they have already happened in great detail. The more detail the better. Every night I do the following:
I put on my doTerra essential oils of Lavender, Balance and Vetiver on my neck, behind my ears and on the bottoms of my feet. I get my workbook and journal out and quote directly from it, "I am insert goal here. I am turning this over to the higher intelligence within me and the higher power of the universe to guide me in creating it. This or something better is manifesting for me in completely satisfying and harmonious ways, for the highest good of all concerned." Everyone has different spiritual beliefs and you can change this to fit your preference. The key is just being clear. Then as I'm calming down and preparing for sleep, I lay on my back and do the Reiki breathing my mentor taught me and visualize the details of that goal. Sometimes, I fall asleep doing this and I rest wonderfully and wake up happy and ready to start my day all the while being propelled toward my goals. It may sound hokie, but it works! It doesn't matter if it's a business goal, a personal issue or just something you are really wanting to happen. For those of you doing the cleanse with me, I would recommend you doing this for your cleanse goals and your expected outcomes. Here's to you John! Thank you for taking the time to give me the kick in the butt I needed. You've been a huge inspiration to me :)
